Joel McKay

Joel McKay is an award-winning writer based in Prince George, B.C. His published fiction includes the novella Wolf at the Door, an absurdist take on the worst family Thanksgiving dinner of all time. His published short fiction includes the story Number Hunnerd, which appeared in Tyche Books’ anthology Water: Selkies, Sirens and Sea Monsters in 2021, and Hands, which was published in Brigids Gate Press’ anthology Blood in the Soil, Terror on the Wind in 2022. He’s also a former journalist and public relations executive. His book The Small Town P.R. Playbook, a how-to guide for rural public relations, won the Don Rennie Award from the Canadian Public Relations Society in 2016. He has been twice nominated for a Jack Webster Award for his journalism, winning in 2011 in the category of business, industry and economics. Joel has written for numerous magazines and newspapers, and when not writing he’s busy discovering new ways to define himself as the nerdiest nerd whoever nerded.
